Issue #29 – Finding Purpose, Connection, and Hope

Today's Tool: Transforming Grief into Strength

Welcome to Season Two

After a month away from social media, I’m back—with a clearer focus. In stepping away, I found three things I missed: writing, connecting, and playing. These pillars keep me grounded, especially as a social worker in a depression clinic where life often feels serious.

This space is where I explore masculinity, mental health, and vulnerability. I promise to keep writing authentically, connecting meaningfully, and playing lightly. If that resonates with you, welcome to Season Two. Let’s keep growing.

Rallying for Suicide Prevention

This week, I attended Kevin’s Song Conference on Suicide, an inspiring gathering of advocates and experts. We tackled tough topics like “Suicide in the Construction Industry” and “Preventing Suicide in White Males.”

Yet, I couldn’t ignore the glaring absence of young men in the room.

80% of suicides are men, and they’re 4x more likely to die by suicide. Young men need role models now more than ever. If we want to shift these numbers, we need to be the ones stepping up.

If you’re here to make a difference, I’d love to connect.

The Gift of Loneliness

Loneliness is something I’ve wrestled with—especially during transitions.

My brother Austin’s passing revealed the silent struggles many endure. It reshaped my priorities, leading me to pivot from commercial real estate to social work.

Even now, loneliness shows up in my life, but I’ve learned this: you are never truly alone.

Faith and community have been anchors for me, and I aim to be that anchor for others. Whether through my career or everyday conversations, I’m here for anyone feeling adrift.

Let’s remind each other that even in loneliness, we are connected.

Transforming Grief into Strength

Losing my brother was the hardest lesson of my life. Grief can feel all-consuming, but it doesn’t have to define us negatively. We have the power to assign meaning to our experiences.

Here’s what helped me:

  • Write your thoughts: Let your feelings live somewhere tangible.

  • Be patient: Healing isn’t linear. Give yourself grace.

  • Find support: No one heals alone.

If you’re walking through a season of grief or loneliness, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Let’s connect.

Final Thoughts

This week’s reflection reminded me of the power of community and the importance of showing up authentically. Whether it’s through writing, connecting, or supporting others, we all have a role to play in making the world a bit brighter.

Thank you for being here. Let’s keep showing up—for ourselves and for each other.
